A few quotes to hightlight from Article 4 above:
"Ms. Dean, thanking the Members of Council for showing
their support of the neighbors, advised many of us are
just shocked. Ms. Dean stated she was at the Zoning Hearing
Board meeting, and sitting behind her were a number of people
who did not stop whispering at the meeting. Explaining that the
people were not behaving as adults, Ms. Dean advised they were
representatives for Wawa and she overheard them saying such things
as I think we can get out of building a privacy fence,
well tell them the tankers will pull in after midnight."
"Stating that at the Zoning Hearing Board meeting
it was suggested by a member of the Board that Wawa sit down
with the neighbors and discuss how they might negotiate for a
better situation with the neighbors, Ms. Dean said they
refused, point blank. We know that we have a fight ahead
of us. But we intend to stand up for our neighborhood.
- Quote from Wawa, Inc's Corporate Website:
"Good Neighbors
Among the founding principles of Wawa, one clearly stands out:
our ongoing commitment to the communities where we do business.
Our company and our associates continuously seek out opportunities
to make us the best neighbor we can be. This is evidenced
by corporate and regional efforts, and through our associates
who make our "good neighbor" philosophy alive and well
in all of our business communities. Like everyone else, our support
is limited, but we do offer a variety of programs to our neighbors
and communities."
Why isn't Wawa working with us to address our concerns since
our own Town of Easton has let us down? Given Wawa's above statement
about helping commmunities where they have stores it would appear
they would want to help us?
Wawa is clearly not working with us and flat out rejected working
with the us to address our conerns. The neighborhood proposed
some additional landscaping to Wawa to make the back of the store
more appealing since it would face the Carroll's Addition neighborhood
beyond our #1 issue of the exit and entrance on Choptank Ave
that would destroy our quiet neighborhood. The neighborhood even
volunteered to help with some of landscaping. The neighborhood
invited Wawa to a neighborhood meeting. Wawa did not even have
enough respect to send a company official, but rather sent their
lawyer who delivered the message that the company would not do
anything other then what is in the plan. This is coming from
a company that calls itself neighborhood friendly, that in their
words, seeks out opportunities to make us the best neighbor
we can be"? Yes, the Town of Easton let us down,
but now we have to ask ourselves is Wawa the right company for
our Town of Easton if they treat the neighborhood they will be
a part of the way they are? It's nice to publish something on
a company website, it's another to practice it. Clearly Wawa
just likes writing words on websites to look good.

Carroll's Addition Community Association or are from the Town
of Easton and would simoly like to support our cause, please
